It’s often challenging to get in front of Talent Agents and Managers. A Class Act NY’s industry showcases provide aspiring actors the unbelievable opportunity to perform for 20 scouting agents & managers in one evening.

Previous participants are now working professionally and are starring on Broadway, in television series, films and commercials. Click here to read about some of our students’ professional progress.

The biggest agencies and management firms in town attend our showcases including CESD, Abrams Artists (A3), Stewart Talent, DDO Artists, Zuri, Shirley Grant Management, Carson Adler, Carson Kolker, Parkside Management, Sinclair Management and many more.

Hone your musical theatre chops in a fun, safe and supportive environment in our interactive online program with amazing Broadway faculty!

Campers will have the chance to strengthen their singing, dancing, and acting skills through group instruction!

We will be utilizing the Zoom app for our online camps, just as we have been doing with our online classes since early March! Exciting Zoom features like break-out rooms make it possible for campers to work opposite one another! Even though we cannot be in person, we have found that our students still make friends, learn a ton about the art of Broadway, and have a sense of community that is really important during this unprecedented time!

Shoshana Bean is a Broadway Star, vocalist and songwriter. Most recently she was seen starring in WAITRESS as Jenna. Shoshana made her Broadway debut in HAIRSPRAY in which she originated the role of Shelly. Many people are also familiar with Shoshana’s amazing portrayal of Elphaba in WICKED. A Class Act NY’s Pre-Professional Program is for a select group of artists who are ready for the challenge of honing their singing, dancing, & acting skills through exploring more advanced work.

We will spend 3 hours and 30 minutes together daily as a group in our online advanced intensive led by our Broadway Director. Included in the program are 2 forty-five minute lessons with the main Broadway Director and Music Director and 1 fifteen-minute dance brush up lesson with a Choreographer. Moreover, throughout the week, special visiting guest artists such as Broadway Stars and Broadway Casting Directors zoom in to teach accelerated, educational masterclasses.

This exclusive program culminates in a Final Zoom Showcase for 10 Scouting Talent Agents & Managers! Many of our past participants have been discovered at this very program. For a list of recent student achievements, click here.

Exciting Zoom features like break-out rooms make it possible for actors to work opposite one another in a small classroom setting. Since early March, Zoom has provided our advanced students with an amazing way to connect with in-demand industry pros, and with one another.

NEW FOR 2020:
We are adding exciting, new elements into the Pre-Professional Program. The intensive now includes a workshop with a Broadway Casting Director, More Scouting Talent Reps at the Final Showcase, Extended Private Lessons, and the incorporation of Monologues into our Final Showcase.

Private Lessons
During the week, participants will receive 3 free private lessons. Prep your final showcase material with the guidance of your Broadway Director, Music Director and Dance Instructor. Lessons will take place outside of normal camp hours.

Voice: 45 Minutes with your Broadway Director and a Professional Music Director. We’ll work on your song cut for the final showcase. This lesson will focus on proper audition and vocal technique.

Acting: 45 Minutes with your Broadway Director. We’ll work on your monologue for the final showcase. We’ll break down your monologue beat by beat, discover operative words within the text, and identify your conflict and your objective.

Dance: 15 Minutes with a Professional Choreographer. While dance won’t be part of Friday’s showcase, it’s important all well rounded musical theatre performers strengthen their dance skills. Learn how to break down difficult dance steps and make a lasting impression in a dance audition.

Advanced Masterclasses with Visiting Broadway Stars & Broadway Casting Directors
Pre-Professional Program participants will also take a series of advanced masterclasses with visiting Broadway Stars and Broadway Casting Directors designed to challenge and elevate our actors' skill set. Masterclasses include: Scene Study, Character Development, & Script Analysis, Acting Through Song, Dialect Coaching & Vocal Technique and Audition Technique with a Broadway Casting Director.

We are continuing to offer online classes and workshops in musical theatre, dramatic arts, dance, on-camera, and voice-over! We will also be offering amazing virtual production opportunities! 

ACANY has been offering programs online since March 2020 to great success. Our virtual open house is for parents and students who would like to see what separates our online performing arts education from the rest! 

Join us for some or all of the evening- feel free to zoom in and out as you wish! We highly recommend watching the session with your child!

A demo of how classes will be run featuring ACANY students and members of our faculty

This session will just scratch the surface of what we’ll be covering throughout the winter and spring. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of what a typical online class will look like.

Have the unique opportunity to work with Award-Winning L.A. Casting Director, Lisa London on on-camera acting and auditioning skills.

In the very challenging year of 2020, Lisa and her office, London/Stroud Casting, cast 7 films that went into production. These included THE INHERITANCE which filmed in Georgia, BASEMENT which filmed on Long Island, OLD HENRY which filmed in Nashville, CANYON DEL MUERTO which filmed in New Mexico, STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS, EDDIE AND SUNNY and LOVE ON THE ROCK which filmed overseas in Italy and Malta, respectively. Lisa and her partner, Catherine Stroud cast actors from all over the USA, and even the world for these different movies.

Impressively, Lisa London gave the following actors their big break in Hollywood: Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Yara Shahidi, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Mark Ruffalo, Giovanni Ribisi, Adrian R. Mante and Adam Irigoyen, to name a few.

Focus of Class:
• The class will cover what casting directors are looking for in auditions, the self-taping process, how to get your agent/manager to work best for you, why some people get callbacks and why you need to research a role.
• The intensive includes on-camera audition technique and will include playback as a teaching tool.
• Each participant will get to read for Lisa and receive one-on-one coaching and feedback. Sides will be sent approximately one week to a few days before the class, emulating a real audition.

Christy Altomare is best known for portraying the title character of Anya/Anastasia in the Broadway sensation, ANASTASIA! Previous to ANASTASIA, Christy played the lead role of Sophie in MAMMA MIA! and before that she played Sue Snell in the Off-Broadway cult hit, CARRIE.

Christy will be working one-on-one with her students! Sing a 32-bar song cut for Christy who will offer each participant individual guidance and feedback on their song interpretation, presentation and audition technique!

Learn if your song showcases your unique personality and vocal range!

Students participating in this class must be prepared to perform a musical theatre cut, accompanist will be provided.
