Hone your musical theatre chops in this super fun and educational class that culminates in an in-studio performance of the beloved movie musical, MOANA! Learn lines, songs, and dance numbers from the show! Sing popular songs like “HOW FAR I’LL GO” and “YOU’RE WELCOME.” Portray beloved characters like Moana, Maui, Gramma Tala, Chief Tui, Pua, Hei Hei, Tamatoa, and more!

Final Showcase:
Class culminates in a final performance in the studio for loved ones and a few scouting talent reps!

This is an advanced program for students who are serious about their work, and have taken performing arts classes at reputable institutions.

Learn how to transition seamlessly from a scene into a song in this dynamic musical theatre class! Develop your storytelling through song skills, and your acting technique! Movement will also play a crucial role in this class.

Focus of Class:
• Hone acting, vocal and movement skills

Perform scenes and songs from different musical theatre genres

Learn how to break down a song and a scene into acting beats

Perform for industry reps who are actively scouting for new clients

Final Industry Showcase:

In this comprehensive course, learn about 2 major types of on-camera acting that include a fair amount of improvisation: Commercials & Sitcoms!

Focus of Class:
• Explore improvisation skills through games and exercises
• Get tips on how to pick up a piece of copy and put it into your own words
• Learn how to show up for yourself in a cold read audition, which 99% of commercial auditions are
• Learn how to bring out the funny in sitcom scenes by cultivating and connecting to your personal joy and opening your comic receptors
• Work on physical comedy skills and movement
• Use a camera and monitor to master your on-camera acting technique
• Learn the tricks of the trade and professional hacks to help you nail your next audition
• Perform for 10 industry reps who are actively scouting for new clients

Final Industry Showcase:
Perform material you have workshopped for 10 scouting agents and managers and loved ones in a final showcase.

Each week, a different casting pro will work with students on TV and Film scenes. Learn how to give a natural, nuanced and subtle performance by working on active listening skills and identifying intentions. The Casting Directors will teach you the skills you need to stand out in TV & Film auditions and offer tips on how to create a beautiful and professional self-tape from home.

Focus of Class:
• Week 1 - Animation: Learn how to create characters for cartoons, video games and animated feature films.
• Week 2 - Commercial: Work on naturalistic reads for commercial reads, radio spots and promos.
• Learn how to record and upload voice-over auditions and jobs from home, and how to market yourself as a VO actor
• Learn proper mic technique to avoid feedback, popping sounds, and reverberation
• Work on your voice-over audition technique in a state of the art recording booth

Final Presentation and Q&A with 2 Talent Agents and a VO Casting Director Present material you have honed during our three weeks for 2 scouting Voice-Over Talent Agents and a top Voice-Over Casting Director. We’ll also have a Q&A with our industry guests about the business!

• Learn how to record and upload voice-over auditions and jobs from home, and how to market yourself as a VO actor
• Learn proper mic technique to avoid feedback, popping sounds, and reverberation
• Gain experience working in a state-of-the-art recording booth

It’s often challenging to get in front of Talent Agents and Managers. A Class Act NY’s industry showcases provide aspiring actors the unbelievable opportunity to perform for 20 scouting agents & managers in one evening.

Previous participants are now working professionally! Many are booking television series, films, voice-overs, commercials and Broadway shows. Click here to read about some of our students’ professional progress.

The biggest agencies and management firms in town attend our showcases including CESD, A3 Artists, Stewart Talent, DDO Artists, Zuri, Carson Adler, Carson Kolker, Parkside Management, Sinclair Management and many more.

The Showcase includes:
• The chance to perform alone in the audition room for 20 Scouting Agents & Managers either In-Person or via Zoom
• A 50 minute coaching session with:
     • Non-Singers: A Broadway/TV/Film Coach
     • Singers: A Broadway/TV/Film Coach and a Broadway Music Director
