Work with EMMY Nominated TV/Film Director and Producer, Jon Rosenbaum!

DAY ONE: THE BASICS, THE BREAKDOWN & THE AUDITION!
The week kicks off with a head-first dive into what really defines a sitcom. Students will gain a clear understanding of the format, style and schedule. Learn the crucial process of how to dissect a comedy script and prepare for a role. The day ends with each student’s big audition!

DAY TWO: WELCOME TO THE SHOW!
A first-hand simulation of what the first day on a sitcom entails. Students participate in a professional Table Read to learn the importance of this event as well as the Network notes that always follow. Students undergo a brief Production Meeting for their scenes to see the bigger picture of how decisions are made that can affect the material. The day ends with a rough initial blocking on stage – putting their scenes ‘on their feet’.

DAY THREE: REHEARSAL DAY!
Day 3 is an intensive on blocking and performance of everyone’s scenes. Students will get firsthand insight into how much detail goes into every beat and every decision on set. Learn about the rewrite process as well as the value of the Producer and Network Run-Thru.

DAY FOUR: BLOCK AND SHOOT DAY!
Students become familiar with the various crew positions that help bring a show together and that directly affect their experience on set. Then students perform their scenes in front of the cameras and receive feedback for various takes.

DAY FIVE: THE LIVE AUDIENCE SHOOT!
Actors present their scenes in front of an audience, with the other students playing the roles of the crew. Learn the precision involved in putting on a live show, and gain a full understanding of why the rehearsal week is so vital. The day will end with a Q&A with parents and students.

Workshops with TV/Film/VO & Stage Actor, Alexis Bronkovic (YOUNGER, FBI, LAW & ORDER: SVU):
Work alongside Alexis on improv for the camera, voice-over, scene study and dramatic on-camera acting skills throughout the week.

** Jon is such an in-demand director and his schedule is always in flux. If he becomes unavailable to teach this week, his colleague, director and famous on-set acting coach, Jason Shipman will be taking over for him. Jon referred us to Jason as they have worked on numerous TV projects together. In fact, Jason taught a Sitcom Intensive last summer, and his program was incredible! You are in excellent hands with either of these L.A. industry professionals!

** Superstar session – credits cannot be applied toward this program
