If you’re new to acting, A Class Act NY offers ongoing performing arts courses throughout the fall, winter, and spring semesters. Classes are taught by prominent Broadway, Voice-Over and On-Camera veterans and most programs culminate in a showcase for loved ones and Talent Reps.

Anne Bogart's Viewpoints is a physical acting technique. It provides a framework for actors and directors to explore movement, space, time, and relationships, fostering collaboration, spontaneity, and heightened sensory awareness. Synopsis
The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. • Uncover differences in script structure and style between Multi-Cam and Single-Cam episodics.
• Learn techniques for vocal transformation, and apply to zany Animation and Video Game characters.
• Master the nuances of tone, inflection and pacing to create dynamic Commercial and Promo reads.
• Finesse your self-tape techniques and gather hands-on experience in a professional voice-over booth.
• Learn key VO and On-Camera terminology, and on-set and booth etiquette.

Tackle songs composed by the most prolific composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries!
Hone storytelling through song skills, song interpretation and presentation! Add at least 2 new cuts by composers from this century and the last century to your audition book, one 16 bar cut, and one 32 bar cut!
On the 1st day, students must bring in a few songs they would like to work on by a famous composer(s) from the different time periods. Our Broadway team will decide which are your two strongest song cuts and that’s what we will focus on in class.

Focus Of Class:
• Hone two song cuts, one 16 and one 32 bar cut, written by two famous composers from this century and last century
• Deepen storytelling through song skills by working on song interpretation and presentation
• Work on vocal dynamics, harmonies, tone, pitch, and more with our Broadway Team
• Learn how to talk to the Music Director and learn the do’s and don’ts of auditioning
• Learn how to leave a lasting impression in the audition room and in performance, on the stage

TV/Film Instructor: TBA Soon!
Cover the ins and outs of two popular genres of Television: Sitcoms (Comedic TV Shows) and Dramas, which can include both Serial Dramas (continuing plot that unfolds in a sequential episode-by-episode fashion) and Procedurals (series that focuses on how crimes are solved or some other aspect of a law enforcement agency).
Students learn the acting techniques needed for one, or both, of these very different yet very popular genres of television shows!
Focus of Class:
• Scene Study & Character Development: Learn how to identify operative words, objectives, conflict, tactics and acting beats within the text and how to make your character come to life
• Learn how to portray complex characters
• Learn how to bring out the funny in sitcom scenes by cultivating and connecting to your personal joy and opening your comic receptors
• Learn how to develop a relationship with the camera
• Improve on-camera physicality
• Work on active listening skills; learn how to be a generous & present scene partner
• Hone audition technique and learn how to make a proper homemade self-tape

Instructor: TV, Film Actor, & Sketch Writer & Director, John Patrick Hayden, (YOUNGER, FLEISHMAN’S IN TROUBLE, DAREDEVIL)
Your instructor, John Patrick, has directed sketch comedy troupes in NYC that have won various awards!
Through improv games, students learn to create characters & story lines that come to life!
In our "SNL Style Class" bring in characters and John Patrick will help craft these ideas into sketch scenarios.
Lots of Oscar Winning actors have appeared on SNL.
This class is an incredible way to build muscles that will be helpful to you as an actor in other aspects of our profession, such as:
• in live performance when things go awry
• in auditions when a casting director asks you to improv
• on-set when your director asks you to improv
• when you’re on a sketch show and you have to roll w/ the punches & often use improv as a tool
Final SNL Style Showcase w/ Talent Reps
On the last day, we emulate an SNL show with different sketches and characters YOU created. Loved ones & a few Scouting Talent Reps will be in attendance!
