In this comprehensive 5-day program, campers will hone all 3 major components of Musical Theatre performance: singing, dancing and acting.
Throughout the week, campers will learn numbers from beloved Broadway musicals, see Broadway’s splashiest new musical SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and attend a talkback with actors after the show, and perform in a final showcase at a beautiful Off-Broadway Theatre!
Workshops with Broadway Guest Artists Include:
Musical Theatre History in a Jiffy: Learn about the history of the Broadway musical from the music of Porter (ANYTHING GOES, KISS ME KATE) to Pasek & Paul (DEAR EVAN HANSEN, LA LA LAND)!
• Cold Read: Learn how to nail a commercial audition with material you just received!
• Sitcom Acting: Learn how to bring out the funny in comedic TV scripts!
• Shakespeare: Learn how to give iambic pentameter a modern twist!
• Broadway Jazz: Learn about the fundamentals of Broadway dance while learning a combo from a Broadway Musical!
• Stage Combat: Learn how to throw a punch that will only look like it hurt!|
• Stage Makeup: Learn how to apply professional stage and special effects makeup!
Broadway Matinee & Talkback: Participants will be treated to a matinee performance of Broadway’s splashiest new musical SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and attend a talkback with actors after the show!
The Final Showcase: At the end of the week, campers make their debut in a musical revue at an exciting Off-Broadway Theatre!
Tuition includes a free ACANY t-shirt, ticket to a Broadway show, and 3 complimentary tickets to the final performance!
