James Stryska

Composer & Music Director

NYC-based composer, arranger, music director, and pianist. Writing credits include The Pyramid: A Dance Moms Parody MusicalMEDUSA: A New Musical, and Don’t Forget Me: A New Musical. They currently serve as the music director for the Off-Broadway productions of The Office!Singfeld!, and Friends.Recent music direction credits include Disaster! and Legally Blonde (Fordham University), Something Rotten(Regional Production), various cabarets at 54 Below and The Green Room 42, and Home for the Holidays: A Broadway Can-Cert (Akron Civic Theater). They also composed a full-length original score for UNCG School of Theatre’s Theatre for Young People production of Roald Dahl’s The Witches, directed by Chad Parsons.

James’s work can be found at the Industries of the Blind Public Art Piece in Greensboro, NC, where they composed a piece inspired by artwork from Krystal Rothermund and Daryl Wells, helping to bring the story to life for visually impaired audiences. Their arrangements have been performed by the Las Vegas Youth Saxophone Ensemble, The Moanin’ Frogs, Lindsay Kesselman, and the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet. They have also had the pleasure of providing arrangements and orchestrations for The Blumey Awards, an annual celebration of excellence in high school musical theatre in the greater Charlotte, NC area.In addition to their work in theatre, James currently serves as the music director for The Voice’s Carolina Rial, Henry Platt, and Megan Dwinell
