SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION ASAP! \nAudition Info: Perform a 32 bar cut of a musical theatre song a cappella and email it to auditions@aclassactny.com \nA Class Act NY’s Pre-Professional Program is for a select group of artists who are ready for the challenge of honing their singing\, dancing\, & acting skills through exploring more advanced work. \nWe will spend 3 hours and 30 minutes together daily as a group in our online advanced intensive led by our Broadway Director. Included in the program are 2 forty-five minute lessons with the main Broadway Director and Music Director and 1 fifteen-minute dance brush up lesson with a Choreographer. Moreover\, throughout the week\, special visiting guest artists such as Broadway Stars and Broadway Casting Directors zoom in to teach accelerated\, educational masterclasses. \nThis exclusive program culminates in a Final Zoom Showcase for 10 Scouting Talent Agents & Managers! For a list of recent student achievements\, click here. \nExciting Zoom features like break-out rooms make it possible for actors to work opposite one another in a small classroom setting. Since early March\, Zoom has provided our advanced students with an amazing way to connect with in-demand industry pros\, and with one another. \nNEW FOR 2020:\nWe are adding exciting\, new elements into the Pre-Professional Program. The intensive now includes a workshop with a Broadway Casting Director\, More Scouting Talent Reps at the Final Showcase\, Extended Private Lessons\, and the incorporation of Monologues into our Final Showcase. \nPrivate Lessons\nDuring the week\, participants will receive 3 free private lessons. Prep your final showcase material with the guidance of your Broadway Director\, Music Director and Dance Instructor. Lessons will take place outside of normal camp hours. \nVoice: 45 Minutes with your Broadway Director and a Professional Music Director. We’ll work on your song cut for the final showcase. This lesson will focus on proper audition and vocal technique. \nActing: 45 Minutes with your Broadway Director. We’ll work on your monologue for the final showcase. We’ll break down your monologue beat by beat\, discover operative words within the text\, and identify your conflict and your objective. \nDance: 15 Minutes with a Professional Choreographer. While dance won’t be part of Friday’s showcase\, it’s important all well rounded musical theatre performers strengthen their dance skills. Learn how to break down difficult dance steps and make a lasting impression in a dance audition. \nAdvanced Masterclasses with Visiting Broadway Stars & Broadway Casting Directors\nPre-Professional Program participants will also take a series of advanced masterclasses with visiting Broadway Stars and Broadway Casting Directors designed to challenge and elevate our actors’ skill set. \nWeekly Schedule of Advanced Masterclasses\nMonday: Scene Study\, Character Development\, & Script Analysis\nAs a group\, we will work together to break down scripts into their purest elements. Actors will learn how to discover operative words and acting beats within the text. We’ll also discuss different masters and their approaches to acting\, including: Meisner\, Stanislavski\, and Hagen. We will be utilizing Zoom Breakout Rooms\, where actors can work on their scenes in pairs and the instructor will check in to provide individualized coaching. \nTuesday: Acting Through Song\nActors will learn how to break down their song into acting beats\, and give a compelling performance. In addition\, we will “monologue our songs” and see how taking a song out of tempo and just saying the words allows us to discover new thoughts\, feelings and ideas that we can play when acting our song. Our Broadway Director will help challenge our actors to deepen their performance skills\, and give them feedback and coaching on their song interpretation. \nWednesday: Dialect Coaching & Vocal Technique\nLearn how to produce a healthy sound\, whether you are singing or speaking and learn how to belt safely! We’ll discuss projection\, articulation\, and breath control. Additionally\, we’ll learn about the Standard American Stage Dialect\, and other popular dialects such as: British\, New York\, and Southern. \nThursday: Audition Technique with a Broadway Casting Director\nA Casting Director from one of Broadway’s biggest Casting Offices will zoom in for an audition technique masterclass! Ever wanted to know what the people behind the table are thinking? Now’s your chance! The Casting Director will give you invaluable insight into the world of musical theatre auditions. Get individual feedback and coaching on your pieces from this major industry pro! \nFriday: Final Showcase Prep & Performance for 10 Scouting Talent Reps\nReview what you have learned during the week and get ready to present your song cut and monologue live for family\, friends\, and 10 scouting agents & managers! \nBroadway Star Q&A\nEach week we’ll invite one of Broadway’s biggest stars to zoom in for an informative Q&A! Ask them everything you’ve ever wanted to know about starring on Broadway\, or the business of show business! \nSupplemental Materials\nIn addition to our live online classes\, participants will be provided with educational videos\, lessons from ACANY’s archive\, helpful articles and more to explore independently after camp hours. \nFinal Showcase\nParticipants will perform in an online final showcase for loved ones and 10 scouting industry guests! Zoom in to watch performers present what they have worked on throughout the week!
