To enroll in this class\, you must have taken classes or performed in shows at reputable institutions in the past.  \nIn this comprehensive course\, we will cover the ins and outs of 3 popular forms of TV series: Procedurals (series that focuses on how crimes are solved or some other aspect of a law enforcement agency)\, Sitcoms (comedic shows)\, and Serial Dramas (continuing plot that unfolds in a sequential episode-by-episode fashion). \nStudents learn the acting techniques needed for each as well as on-camera lingo and staging technique.  \nBy the end of our 11-weeks\, students will be ready to present material they have workshopped for loved ones\, and 3 or more scouting Talent Agents and Managers in a final presentation. \nWhat is a Procedural?\nA procedural drama is a genre of television programming which focuses on how crimes are solved or some other aspect of a law enforcement agency\, legislative body\, or court of law. Shows usually have an episodic format that does not require the viewer to have seen previous episodes. Episodes typically have a self-contained\, also referred to as stand-alone\, plot that is introduced and resolved within the same episode. \nExamples: LAW & ORDER FRANCHISE\, THE BLACKLIST\, and SCANDAL \nWe’ll learn all about the formula and style of procedurals. Many procedurals film in New York City\, and provide lots of job opportunities for young actors- so it’s a great style to be familiar with! Use LAW & ORDER for example. Each week\, a new crime is being solved\, hence\, the show hires guest stars for every episode they shoot!  \nWhat is a Sitcom?\nA sitcom\, or situation comedy\, is generally\, a 30 minute comedic television series that involves a cast of characters in a succession of comedic circumstances. \nExamples: FRIENDS\, MODERN FAMILY\, and LIV & MADDIE \nWe’ll learn all about comedic timing\, how to make turns and land jokes for maximum effect for both single camera and multi-camera sitcoms. In addition we will talk about blocking techniques and terminology that is used on sitcom sets.  \nWhat is a Serial Drama?\nA serial drama is a television show which has a continuous plot that unfolds in sequential episode-by-episode fashion. Serials are\, more often than not\, shows that possess narrative complexity. They typically follow many story arcs that span entire television seasons\, or even in some cases\, the entire run of the series. \nExamples: STRANGER THINGS\, RIVERDALE\, and ATYPICAL \nWe’ll learn about portraying more complex characters. Additionally\, we’ll cover how to identify clues within the text\, and physical techniques that will help deliver a realistic and nuanced performance.  \nFinal Showcase: \nAt the end of the 11 weeks\, we’ll perform selections from all 3 genres for loved ones and 3 or more scouting Talent Agents & Managers! \nAges: 12-19 (Email us for an age exception)\nWhen: Sundays\, Sep. 24; Oct. 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 29; Nov. 5\, 12\, 19; Dec. 3\, 10 ** Final Showcase (No Class: Nov 26 Thanksgiving Weekend)\nTime: 11 AM – 1 PM\nWhere: Pearl Studios – 500 8th Ave\, NYC\nCost: 895.00 – Payment Plans Available at Checkout\, or if you need a custom plan\, email us or call (212) 315-3010 \n  \nCLICK TO REGISTER
