Private lessons and a final showcase are included in our award-winning Camps! \nCampers will have the chance to strengthen their singing\, dancing\, and acting skills through private and group instruction! \nWe will be utilizing the Zoom app for our online camps\, just as we have been doing with our online classes since early March! Exciting Zoom features like break-out rooms make it possible for campers to work opposite one another! Even though we cannot be in person\, we have found that our students still make friends\, learn a ton about the art of Broadway\, and have a sense of community that is really important during this unprecedented time! \nDaily Dance + Warm-Up\nEach camp day will begin with an energizing and educational vocal and physical warm-up with our Broadway Director. \nPrivate Lessons\nDuring the week\, campers will receive a free 45 minute one-on-one session with their Broadway Director to supplement what they’ve learned during the week\, and a free 15 minute dance private with a professional choreographer. Lessons will take place outside of normal camp hours. \nWorkshops\nCampers will take educational workshops led by their Broadway Director and Special Guest Instructors throughout the week! \nWeekly Schedule of Workshops\nMonday: Musical Theatre Scene Study\n• Work on scenes from some of Broadway’s most beloved musicals! Actors will work together to dissect scenes beat by beat\, and learn what it takes to give a compelling performance. Actors will be paired up and assigned to a Zoom Breakout Room where they will work on their scene independently and the instructor will check in to provide individualized coaching. \nTuesday: Nailing the Cold Read\n• Learn how to quickly pick up text with no time to prepare\, break down the script and bring your best self to the audition room despite your lack of time with the material. Actors are often asked to read cold in both amateur or professional auditions\, so it’s imperative you sharpen your cold read skills! \nWednesday: Acting Through Song and Proper Vocal Technique\n• We’ll work on song interpretation and presentation\, and learn about proper vocal technique! Campers will be sent a few song options prior to camp and can choose a song to present in this workshop. Campers are also welcome to present their own 16 bar song cut (either a cappella or with a backing track). Not interested in singing solo for the group? Do not fret! Crown Princess Alia’s acquisition of the throne is fast approaching\, set to commence with her Coronation Ball – a sacred\, time-honored ceremony during which the kingdom’s female heir must marry a prince and begin wearing her “enchanted dress” which she must wear every day for the duration of her reign to ensure nation-wide peace and prosperity (seeing as the ensorcelled garment is blessed with order-preserving powers). The plan in place for Alia to have a flawless ritual and subsequent rulership\, matching her predecessors\, goes awry… when a week before her ball\, she discovers she cannot fit into her magic gown. The only two individuals aware of her dilemma (Charlie\, her personal dresser\, and Benson\, a common thief discovered hiding in the changing room) join her on a discreet quest\, racing the clock to find a rumored\, elusive Alchemist\, whom the trio believes can provide Alia with a source of magic that will transform her to be the proper size to fit into her dress in time for her Ball\, allowing her to fulfill her destiny as scheduled and maintain her failure-free record for her subjects and mother.  \nMEASURE UP examines perfectionism\, interacting with the unknown\, and the relationship between responsibility and grace\, as well as the veiled modern topic of restrictive eating delivered in the form of a wacky fairytale adventure interwoven with an expeditious\, jazz-infused score. \nStaged Performance in our NYC Studio:\nThe week culminates in the WORLD PREMIERE of MEASURE UP\, for an audience filled with family\, friends\, and industry guests! \nThis is the 10th Original work produced by A Class Act NY!
